Pakistan holds exhibit of drone attacks

Activists have held an exhibition in Pakistan’s capital city of Islamabad to bring to light the truth of the US assassination drone strikes.Nearly a dozen exploded and twisted US missiles, accompanied by photographs of their victims, are on display at the exhibition, organized in
collaboration with the British charity organization, Reprieve.

The exhibits show the kind of sophisticated heavy weaponry used by the US in its drone attacks in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA), located between the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

“The exhibition shows that when the CIA says that there are no innocent victims of drone missiles in the last 15 months, that is simply not true, because what we have are parts of missiles that actually killed children … That is very solid concrete proof that the CIA is not telling the truth,” said Clive Stafford Smith, the founder of Reprieve.

The visitors describe the event as a great opportunity for those who are not aware of the ramifications of the CIA-led assassination drone attacks.

The US has been using the unmanned aerial vehicles to take out what it claims “high value targets” associated with al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

Figures compiled by independent organizations say over 2000 people, most of whom civilians, have been killed in the US assassination drone attacks since 2004.

The drone strikes are one of the major reasons behind growing anti-US sentiments in Pakistan.
